Australian Born With Too Much Skin: Watch Tomm Tennent Transformation!

When Tomm Tennent was born in South East Australia in 1993, his parents and doctors didn’t know that such skin condition could exist.
Tomm had enough skin to cover a 5 y-o toddler resulting in so many wrinkles and folds. He was so unique and unprecedented that research teams decided to invest time and money in studying his case and resolving the mystery around his condition. He spent 2 and a half months in the medical center for tests and analysis. Surprisingly, scientists saw a similarity between his appearance and the one of the Chinese dog breed Shar Pei and were able to find out what was causing him to have so much skin!
In fact, Tomm’s level of Hyaluronic acid, a major component of the skin, was 100 times higher than normal which is also the case for Shar Pei puppies. Doctors believe that it is a genetic condition and no treatment was provided to Tomm as it is known for Shar Pei dogs that the level of Hyaluronic acid will drop with age giving a more normal-looking skin appearance.
Tomm’s parents reported that they suffered from mean remarks and stares. But Tomm was loved and famous in his home town where the neighbors made him a mascot for the fire department and held a fundraiser to pay for his medical bills.
As predicted Tomm’s condition improved with time and his parents said that no matter how he will look like, they will never hide him because beauty comes from within and is more than skin deep.
